timeless, natural wedding photography at grantley hall

Some wedding days stay with you for a very long time, and Michelle and Wayne’s incredible wedding at Grantley Hall is one I don’t think I’ll ever quite recover from.

The hottest day of the year. The most beautiful outdoor ceremony. Sunshine-filled vows, stunning florals, an amazing surprise guest and a dance floor that was full of energy from start to finish.

Honestly, I don’t think I have the words for this one.

As a Grantley Hall wedding photographer, you always know you’re going to be surrounded by something special. The setting, the service, the grounds, the atmosphere — everything about this venue feels elegant and unforgettable. But Michelle and Wayne’s day was on another level.

a beautiful outdoor ceremony

Michelle and Wayne were lucky enough to have the most gorgeous weather for their outdoor ceremony. It was one of those days where the sunshine just made everything feel even more magical.

The ceremony was emotional, relaxed and full of so much love. Surrounded by their favourite people, with the beautiful Grantley Hall backdrop around them, they said their vows in the most stunning setting.

Outdoor ceremonies at Grantley Hall really are something special. The gardens, the space and the feeling of the venue all come together so beautifully, and for wedding photography, it gives you the most incredible light and atmosphere to capture.

stunning styling and florals

The whole day looked absolutely beautiful, with gorgeous florals by Fulford Flowers bringing so much colour, texture and romance to the setting.

Everything felt elegant without feeling too formal. That perfect balance of luxury and personality, where every detail has clearly been thought about, but the day still feels full of warmth and fun.

Michelle looked absolutely stunning in her Pronovias gown from Hugo & Elliot Bridal, and her bridesmaids looked beautiful in Dessy. The whole look came together so perfectly against the backdrop of Grantley Hall.

a day full of smiles

It may have been the hottest day of the year, but you would never have known it from the energy of this wedding.

Michelle and Wayne were just incredible from start to finish. So much fun, so warm, and honestly, they completely wrapped everyone around them in love all day. Their guests brought the best energy too — the kind of wedding where everyone is fully in it, fully celebrating and fully ready for the party.

There were so many moments that made this day feel special. The laughter, the hugs, the reactions, the happy tears, the way everyone just seemed completely over the moon to be there.

As a photographer, those are the days you dream of capturing.

a surprise nobody will forget

And then, just when everyone thought the day couldn’t get any better… out came Olly Murs.

Yes. Actual Olly Murs.

The reaction from the guests was incredible. The atmosphere completely lifted, the dance floor came alive, and suddenly it felt like the whole wedding had turned into the most amazing private concert.

It was such a brilliant surprise and one of those moments where you can feel the excitement in the room before you even look through the camera. Everyone was singing, dancing and absolutely loving every second.

Safe to say, Wayne understood the assignment.

supplier love

Michelle and Wayne, what can I even say?

Thank you for letting me be part of such an unforgettable day. Thank you for bringing so much fun, warmth and love, and for making me feel wrapped up in one big hug all day.

It was a complete joy to capture your wedding at Grantley Hall, and I honestly feel so lucky to have been there for it all.

Congratulations again — what a day.

grantley hall faq's

Grantley Hall is located in Ripon, North Yorkshire, HG4 3ET, on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It sits between Ripon and Pateley Bridge, making it a beautiful countryside wedding venue while still being accessible for guests travelling from across Yorkshire and beyond.

The venue is around a 15-minute drive from the A1(M), which makes it well placed for couples looking for a luxury North Yorkshire wedding venue.

One of the lovely things about getting married at Grantley Hall is that everything can happen in one beautiful place. The rooms and suites are elegant, calm and full of lovely natural light, which makes them perfect for those relaxed morning photographs while you’re getting ready.

From the final touches of make-up to the dress reveal, champagne moments and quiet time before the ceremony, the setting works beautifully for natural, elegant wedding photography. If you’re planning a Grantley Hall wedding, I’d always recommend allowing a little extra time in the morning so you can enjoy the space without feeling rushed.

Grantley Hall has so many beautiful places for couple portraits, which is one of the reasons it is such a dream venue to photograph.

The gardens are always a favourite, especially on a sunny day when the light is soft and warm. The front of the hall is perfect for those classic, elegant portraits, while the outdoor spaces give you room for more relaxed, natural photographs together. There are also plenty of beautiful indoor options if the weather changes, so you never have to worry about missing out on gorgeous portraits.

For Michelle and Wayne’s wedding, the sunshine and outdoor setting made everything feel extra magical, but honestly, Grantley Hall looks beautiful in every season.

I’d usually suggest allowing around 20–30 minutes for relaxed couple portraits, plus a little extra time later in the day if you’d like some golden hour or evening photographs

For a venue like Grantley Hall, I would always recommend considering a second photographer, especially if you’re having a larger wedding, both of you are getting ready at the venue, or you want lots of natural guest moments captured throughout the day.

Grantley Hall has so many beautiful spaces, and there is often a lot happening at once. A second photographer means one of us can be with one side of the wedding party in the morning while the other captures the other side, and later in the day it allows us to capture different angles of the ceremony, more guest reactions, extra candid moments and all the little details you might otherwise miss.

It’s not essential for every wedding, but for a full Grantley Hall celebration, it can make such a difference to the final gallery.

One of the lovely things about Grantley Hall is that you still have plenty of beautiful photography options if the weather changes.

Of course, the gardens are stunning, but the interiors are just as elegant, which means we can still create gorgeous portraits indoors if we need to. I’ll always work with the light, the timings and the flow of your day so you don’t have to worry. Sometimes a little rain can even add to the atmosphere — and if we get a break in the weather, we can always sneak out for a few portraits later.

Yes, absolutely. I photograph weddings across Yorkshire and beyond, and I’d be so happy to travel to Grantley Hall for your wedding day.

If you’re looking for a Grantley Hall wedding photographer who will capture your day in a relaxed, natural and joy-filled way, I’d love to hear all about your plans. Whether you’re planning an outdoor ceremony, a luxury celebration or a party full of energy from start to finish, I’ll be there to capture the real moments as they unfold.
