The grounds provide an amazing backdrop for your wedding photographs. The manicured lawns are great for your group photos, whilst the woodland provides the perfect place to take a wander for your couple photographs.

I am honoured to be a wedding photographer capturing beautiful celebrations at Woodlands Hotel. This stunning venue holds a special place in my heart as it’s where my husband and I chose to say “I do.” We loved everything about it, and it remains one of my favourite places to photograph weddings.

Just on the outskirts of Leeds, Woodlands is a luxury boutique hotel. It was originally built in 1871 for a local textile mill owner and has been lovingly restored to a modern and elegant wedding venue making it the perfect backdrop for your special wedding day.

I am a relaxed and fun wedding photographer, spending time with you before the wedding to make sure I feel like an extra friend at your wedding rather than a stuffy stranger making everyone feel awkward.

I strike a great balance of a candid, documentary style during your ceremony and drinks reception and am able to then give a little bit of posing direction during your family photographs to make sure everyone looks great. We then spend some time taking beautiful natural couples portraits with just the right amount of wow.

Yes — many times, and it’s genuinely one of my favourite venues to photograph. Woodlands holds a very special place in my heart, as it’s where my husband and I chose to celebrate our own wedding. That personal connection means I know the venue well, from how the light moves throughout the day to the best spots for relaxed, natural photographs. Every time I return, it feels familiar, calm and full of character — all the things that help couples feel at ease on their wedding day.

Woodlands has two excellent options for wedding preparations, which makes the morning feel calm and well organised. There’s a lovely wedding suite upstairs, ideal for relaxed getting-ready photos, and a designated getting-ready room downstairs which works perfectly for hair, makeup and spending time with your wedding party. Both spaces offer great light and enough room to move around comfortably, helping everything feel unhurried.

Woodlands offers so many lovely options for wedding portraits.

The back lawn is always a favourite — it’s beautifully kept and provides a timeless backdrop, with the added bonus of a slightly hidden woodland walk that feels private and relaxed. Indoors, the orangery is perfect in any weather, filled with soft natural light, and the wedding suite also works wonderfully for quieter, more intimate portraits.

I’ll always tailor portrait locations to suit the season, the light and how you’re feeling on the day.

Yes, outdoor ceremonies at Woodlands usually take place on the back terrace. It’s a gorgeous setting, especially in the warmer months, and works beautifully for ceremony photography. The open space allows guests to relax and enjoy the moment, while giving plenty of room to capture natural, emotional images without feeling intrusive.

Woodlands Hotel offers the option of exclusive use for your wedding day. This gives you and your guests privacy and the freedom to truly make the venue your own.

From a photography point of view, exclusive use is a huge plus — it allows the day to flow naturally, with uninterrupted access to all the best spaces for portraits, candid moments and relaxed storytelling from start to finish.
