North Yorkshire

If you're planning your wedding and looking for a Middleton Lodge wedding photographer who knows the venue inside out, you're in the right place.

I’ve had the pleasure of photographing multiple weddings at this stunning North Yorkshire estate, and it’s genuinely one of my favourite places to shoot.

With its grand Georgian architecture, elegant interiors, and those beautifully kept walled gardens, Middleton Lodge is the perfect mix of luxury and laid-back — a dream for modern couples who want timeless wedding photography without the fuss.

why middleton lodge is one of my favourite yorkshire wedding venues

Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of photographing both the Fig House and the Main House at Middleton Lodge. Each space has its own unique charm:

  • The Fig House is light-filled, modern and calm – perfect for couples who love a fresh, garden-inspired vibe.
  • The Main House offers timeless Georgian elegance, ideal for intimate ceremonies and grand receptions alike.

And then there are the gardens… Honestly, I could spend hours exploring the walled garden, the stone pathways and the golden-hour spots dotted around the estate.

It’s one of the reasons Middleton Lodge is such a standout for wedding photography in North Yorkshire.

my approach to wedding photography

I’m all about capturing real moments with a relaxed, documentary wedding photography style — so your photos reflect you, not just a version of a wedding day. While the venue itself is undeniably beautiful, my focus is always on the people and the feelings: the laughter, the tears, the unspoken glances, the in-between bits that matter most.

Middleton Lodge is the perfect setting for that balance — elegance meets emotion. Whether we’re sneaking away for a quiet couple’s portrait in the garden or documenting the buzz of the morning prep in the Fig House, I’ll blend in, keep things calm, and gently guide you when needed.

stress-free, storytelling photography for your wedding

If you’re planning your wedding in Yorkshire and looking for a venue that offers style, character and flexibility, Middleton Lodge ticks every box.

It’s a favourite among luxury weddings for a reason — the team, the food, the layout, the flow of the day… it all works beautifully

Yes! I have photographed multiple weddings at Middleton Lodge, including both the Fig House and the Main House. I know the best spots for portraits, how the light moves through the venue at different times of day and how to keep things calm and relaxed while capturing all the important moments.

If you're getting married at the Fig House, the Walled Garden is one of the most beautiful outdoor spaces I’ve ever photographed and it’s stunning in every season. From hidden corners to wide paths and rustic greenhouse textures, it’s full of variety.

If you’re in the Main House, don’t forget the grand staircase and the sweeping drive, perfect for more elegant portraits.

Photography tip: Consider doing your confetti shot just before dinner — it’s a fun way to gather everyone in one place and creates beautiful, golden-toned images.

Middleton Lodge is one of the best venues in Yorkshire when it comes to wet weather! If it rains, there are still plenty of beautiful, sheltered spots for portraits  including the Georgian entranceway at the Main House, the glass-covered walkways around the Coach House and the light-filled corners of the Fig House.

Plus, the interiors are stunning, so you’re never short of a good backdrop. And if you’re up for grabbing a brolly, the moody skies can make for seriously romantic shots too!

The Fig House is more contemporary, full of natural light, clean lines, and surrounded by the Walled Garden. It’s perfect for relaxed, garden-inspired weddings. The Main House is grand and elegant, with Georgian features, intimate drawing rooms, and a warm, historic atmosphere.

Both photograph beautifully, but they offer totally different feels and I love working in both

The Walled Garden is an absolute dream to shoot especially in spring and summer. I often use it for couple portraits, bridal party shots, and even quiet moments during golden hour. It’s also perfect for relaxed candids during drinks receptions.

No matter the season, the textures, colours and layout of the garden add so much depth and character to your gallery.

Most couples book me 12–18 months in advance, especially for popular venues like Middleton Lodge. That said, it’s always worth getting in touch even if your date is sooner and I may still have availability!

Absolutely! While Middleton Lodge is one of my favourite venues, I shoot weddings all across Yorkshire including Leeds, Harrogate, Sheffield, York, Huddersfield, and beyond. If you’re planning a wedding in Yorkshire and like my style, I’d love to hear from you.
