The beautiful gardens are a great backdrop for your groups wedding photographs and your family pictures. A little rain doesn’t deter a hardy Yorkshire wedding photographer and actually makes for a lovely late night wedding photograph.

It’s a truly beautiful Jacobean Hall, set in the heart of the Yorkshire countryside, and one I know extremely well. Its character, history and warm atmosphere make it a joy to photograph, and returning here always feels like working with an old friend.

Holdsworth House offers a range of lovely bedrooms that work beautifully for getting ready. If your wedding party is a little larger, there are also a couple of stunning rooms upstairs which are ideal for preparations. These rooms feature beautiful mullioned windows, providing soft natural light and an elegant, calm atmosphere — perfect for relaxed getting-ready photographs.

Holdsworth House has gorgeous grounds that work beautifully for wedding portraits throughout the year.

I particularly love using the gardens with the house as a backdrop, which creates timeless, elegant images, as well as the lawns, which are perfect for relaxed, natural portraits and group photos. The variety of outdoor spaces means we can keep portraits effortless and close by, without taking you away from your guests for long.

Yes — there are several options for an outdoor ceremony at Holdsworth House.

Couples can choose from the lawns, the courtyard, or the new wedding barn, each offering a different feel while still keeping everything conveniently on site. This flexibility allows you to plan confidently and choose the setting that best reflects your vision for the day.

Holdsworth House is a working hotel with a restaurant and bar, so there may be other guests staying on site. However, the venue only ever hosts one wedding per day, which ensures your celebration feels personal and unrushed.

From a photography point of view, this allows the day to flow smoothly while still enjoying the charm and character of a historic country house setting.
