There are some venues that instantly feel special the moment you arrive and Saltmarshe Hall is definitely one of them.

We were lucky enough to spend a sun-soaked day there recently, working alongside My Pretties and a wonderful team to capture some truly beautiful moments. From start to finish, everything about the day felt relaxed, elegant, and effortlessly styled — exactly the kind of atmosphere that allows natural, meaningful photographs to unfold.

The outdoor ceremony space is something really special. Surrounded by greenery and open skies, it creates such a relaxed and romantic setting to say your vows.

On a sunny day like this one, the light was soft and flattering, making it ideal for capturing those emotional, once-in-a-lifetime moments as they happened — naturally, without interruption.

One of the more unique features of Saltmarshe Hall is its outdoor pool area — something you don’t see at every Yorkshire venue.

It brings a slightly more playful, laid-back feel to the day and creates opportunities for something a little different when it comes to your wedding photos. Whether it’s drinks in the sunshine or relaxed portraits nearby, it adds another layer to the storytelling.

Saltmarshe Hall has some beautiful, light-filled rooms that are perfect for getting ready on the morning of your wedding. The Honeymoon Suite spaces are ideal because they offer:

Plenty of room for hair, makeup and your bridal party
Calm, uncluttered surroundings that keep everything feeling relaxed

From a photography point of view, these rooms allow for natural, flattering images without needing to stage anything, so those quiet, in-between moments can be captured effortlessly.

Photography tip: Build a little buffer into your timeline so the room change isn’t rushed. It’s a great way to get clean prep shots without bags and suitcases in the background!

Saltmarshe Hall is located in East Yorkshire, near Howden, making it easily accessible for guests travelling from York, Leeds and across Yorkshire.

For natural, romantic portraits, the gardens and grounds are perfect — soft light, greenery and plenty of space to move make it easy to keep everything feeling effortless. The outdoor ceremony area also works beautifully once guests have moved on, giving a clean, elegant backdrop without needing to travel far.

If you’re after something a little different, the poolside area adds a more relaxed, destination-style feel and works especially well in the sunshine. And then in the evening, golden hour across the grounds is always worth stepping out for — just for a few minutes — for that softer, warmer light.
