A Yorkshire Barn With So Much to Photograph

Set amongst open countryside, woodland and beautiful grounds, Bunny Hill just outside York has so much to explore without the day ever feeling like you're being whisked away for photographs.

For me, it’s the kind of venue that works perfectly for a natural approach to wedding photography. There are beautiful backdrops when you want them, but there’s also plenty of space for those unplanned moments, laughter and little interactions that make your wedding gallery feel like your day.

With exclusive use of the venue, you and your guests can settle in and enjoy the whole space at your own pace. And when it comes to photographs, we can make the most of the changing light, the grounds and the different areas of the venue without taking you away from your celebrations for too long.

why i love photographing weddings at bunny hill

Beautiful Spaces, Brilliant Light & Plenty of Personality

I think the thing I love most about Bunny Hill is that it doesn't feel like a venue that has been designed simply to look good in photographs. It feels like it has been designed around how you actually want your wedding day to feel.

The story behind Bunny Hill is a lovely one. It was created when the owner's daughter was getting married and they couldn't find somewhere that had everything they wanted. So they created it themselves — and I think you can really see that couple-first approach throughout the venue.

It's elegant without feeling stuffy, beautiful without feeling too polished and, most importantly, it feels like somewhere you can actually relax and enjoy yourselves.

For me, as a photographer, it's pretty much perfect. Beautiful barn? Check. Gorgeous countryside? Check. Plenty of outdoor space? Check. Somewhere for everyone to stay? Check. Amazing light? Absolutely.

my wedding photography style

I am a relaxed and fun wedding photographer, spending time with you before the wedding to make sure I feel like an extra friend at your wedding rather than a stuffy stranger making everyone feel awkward.

I strike a great balance of a candid, documentary style during your ceremony and drinks reception and am able to then give a little bit of posing direction during your family photographs to make sure everyone looks great. We then spend some time taking beautiful natural couples portraits with just the right amount of wow.

bunny hill faq's

Yes — and it’s a venue I absolutely love photographing. Bunny Hill has such a relaxed, open feel to it, which makes it perfect for natural, storytelling wedding photography. The space, the light and the laid-back atmosphere allow couples to really enjoy their day without feeling rushed, and that always shines through in the images.

Bunny Hill is an exclusive-use venue with accommodation on site, making it ideal for a calm, sociable morning. There’s a large lodge with a hot tub, which is perfect for a group getting ready together. It offers plenty of space, natural light and a relaxed atmosphere — great for capturing those pre-ceremony moments as everyone eases into the day.

Bunny Hill is blessed with an abundance of outdoor space, so you’ll honestly run out of time before you run out of beautiful places for photos.

I usually recommend starting with the large open lawns, which give you a sense of scale and countryside calm. The woodland areas are fantastic for more intimate, romantic portraits, and the front of the wedding barn works perfectly as a clean, modern backdrop that still feels relaxed and authentic.

Yes, you can — and you’re spoilt for choice. Bunny Hill offers both a designated indoor ceremony space and the option to hold your ceremony outdoors.

This flexibility means you can plan with confidence, knowing there’s a beautiful alternative if the weather changes, while still having the option of an outdoor ceremony when conditions are right.

Yes — Bunny Hill is fully exclusive use. That means you and your guests have the entire venue to yourselves, allowing the day to unfold naturally without interruptions.

From a photography point of view, exclusive use gives us complete freedom to move around the grounds, take advantage of changing light and capture the full story of your wedding day in a relaxed, unhurried way.
